The Bach

New Zealand comes to Camber! Winners of the ‘Build It Awards Best Home 2020‘, The Bach is a beautifully designed contemporary beach house, perfectly positioned opposite the dunes and just a minute’s walk from the golden sands of Camber Beach.

With its clean architectural lines, understated finishes and relaxed coastal feel, The Bach combines thoughtful design with effortless style. Raised slightly above ground level to make the most of the surrounding dune views, the house is approached via a striking stepped entrance framed by natural stone walls.

With the beach just a hop, skip and a jump over the dunes, The Bach is a wonderful place to slow down, unwind and enjoy the best of the Camber coastline.

Inside the property

Step inside The Bach and you’ll find a beautifully considered home, with spacious interiors, contemporary finishes and plenty of room for everyone to relax.

The impressive kitchen is a dream for anyone who loves to cook, with everything you need to prepare anything from a leisurely breakfast to a proper feast. There’s a double oven, warming drawer, grill, induction hob, large fridge and freezer, boiling water tap, dishwasher and plenty of cooking equipment. A Bluetooth speaker and DAB radio provide the soundtrack while you cook.

The long dining table, with banquette seating and statement pendant lighting, comfortably seats eight, making it a lovely space for gathering over good food and conversation.

Towards the rear of the house, a separate utility room has a washing machine, tumble dryer and ceiling-mounted airer, along with handy side access. Just outside, you’ll find an outdoor shower and tap, perfect for rinsing off sandy feet after a day on the beach.

A few steps down lead into the spacious sitting room, where a contemporary wood-burning stove and large TV with Sky Q make it easy to settle in for a cosy evening.

Upstairs, a second sitting room offers another wonderful space to escape to, complete with a wood-burning stove and sumptuous velvet sofa. Whether it’s a quiet afternoon with a book or an evening of board games, there’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out.

Step outside onto the generous balcony, where comfortable seating and morning sunshine make it a lovely spot for your first coffee of the day.

Sleeping arrangements

The Bach sleeps eight guests across four beautifully designed bedrooms, with comfortable beds, quality bedding and plenty of wardrobe space.

Bedroom 1 – Master Bedroom

A spacious king-size bedroom with a generous ensuite shower room featuring twin basins. Sliding doors open onto a private balcony.

Bedroom 2 – Bunk Room

A bright, beautifully crafted bunk room with hand-built beds, ideal for younger guests. A separate family bathroom with a freestanding bath and striking floor tiles is conveniently located next door. A cot bed is also stored in the bunk room wardrobe.

Bedroom 3 – King Bedroom

Situated on the upper floor, this spacious king-size bedroom enjoys lovely views towards the dunes and has its own ensuite shower room.

Bedroom 4 – Twin Bedroom

Also on the upper floor, this comfortable twin room has two full-size 3ft single beds and a private ensuite shower room.

Thoughtful, Sustainable Design

The Bach has been designed with sustainability and comfort in mind. Air-source heat pumps power the underfloor heating, while excellent insulation helps keep the house cosy in winter and comfortably cool in summer.

Each room has its own thermostat, so everyone can find their perfect temperature, whatever the season.

Outside the property

Large sliding doors from the ground-floor sitting room open onto the garden and outdoor dining area, creating a lovely space for long lunches, summer evenings and relaxed gatherings.

For those who enjoy cooking outdoors, there’s a Big Green Egg BBQ, perfect for everything from simple grilled favourites to something a little more adventurous.

And with the beautiful dunes of Camber Sands just opposite, the beach is never more than a short stroll away.

Private parking is available for two cars only. 

The beautiful town of Rye is 10 minutes away by car, full of independent shops and restuarants.
