Privacy Policy


Its personal and that’s the way it stays – we, at Camber Holiday Cottages, take your privacy very seriously and even more so as a result of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force on the 25 May 2018.

We collect the personal data that you input by booking one of our holiday cottages or when you sign up to our newsletter from our home page on our website (email only), which includes the following:

  • Your name, title,
  • Postal address,
  • E mail address
  • Telephone numbers
  • Guest names (and ages if under 21)

We do not keep any financial details, payments from guests are made via BACs payments or cheque, we do not accept credit cards.  Bank details are supplied to return your breakage deposit as provided by you and then deleted and not held.

Data will be used for the following purposes:

  • To manage our contractual obligations to you when you book a holiday from us.  This is the primary lawful basis upon which we hold personal information for the purposes of the GDPR.
  • To send you booking confirmation, arrival information, refund information.
  • To send to you our e-News Letter about Camber Holiday Cottages.

The GDPR requires us to indicate for how long we will retain data.  Where you have booked a holiday with us, we will retain your data for a period of 7 years for legal purposes, to ensure that we are able to assist you should you have any questions, feedback or issues in connection with a holiday you have purchased from us or if any legal issues arise – For example a VAT issue.
Where we have used your personal information to contact you for marketing communications:

  • We will contact you at least every 3 years to ensure you are happy to continue receiving electronic communications
  • Every 5 years to ensure you are happy to continue receiving postal and telephone communications from us

If you tell us that you no longer wish to receive marketing communications from us, we promise to stop sending them to you.
Where we have processed your data for any other reason (such as where you have contacted us with a question in connection with a potential holiday booking) we will retain your data for 3 years

We keep your personal data on our mailchimp database list which is protected.  We also hold paper copies of all booking forms on file.  This information will NEVER be sold too any third party.   It is solely used to manage bookings and send newsletter.

 Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to request that we remove your personal information from our systems. We will need to retain it until your booking has been taken and we no longer need to contact you.   At any point you can remove yourself from our list.  We take your privacy very seriously.  The only reasons we store personal details are:

  • You booked a holiday rental property through us
  • You filled in a form on this website
  • You communicated with us via e-mail

If you would like to see what data of yours we hold, or remove your data from our systems, or notify us that you no longer wish to receive the Newsletter then please email us at [email protected], and we will be happy to assist you.
Should you not be satisfied with the way your request relating to personal information has been handled by us, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s office.

Our website contain links to and from the websites of other companies. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that they have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for them. Please check those policies before you submit any personal data to those websites.

This privacy statement may be updated from time to time, so please check it periodically.

You have the right to ask us at any time:

  • To confirm whether we hold any of your personal data
  • To send you a copy of any personal data that we hold about you
  • To correct any inaccuracies in your personal data and to add relevant details where the personal data we hold is incomplete
  • To delete (to the extent possible) any of your personal data, where we are required by law to do so
  • To stop processing your personal data, where we are required by law to do so
  • To let you have a portable copy of the personal data we hold about you, where we are required by law to do so
  • To stop processing any of your personal data that we process on the basis of our legitimate interests
  • To stop sending you marketing material.
  • Where we have reached a decision that affects you by processing your personal data automatically then you have the right to speak to someone to discuss that decision.
