Inside the property
Its footprint is not large but it is surprisingly spacious, suited best for a couple of families, with four bedrooms, three doubles and one twin. The kitchen is small but meets all your domestic needs – a double oven with gas hob, a slimline dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso machine (cone pods not included). Step up into the dining room with a table for eight amongst the quirky and vibrant decor the cosy snug with log burner is a great place to interact with the culinary goings or watch TV.
Through the corridor on the ground floor is the first of the bedrooms, a superking room, with an abundance of book shelves, followed by a double bedroom (5ft) next to the family bathroom, with shower attachment and view over the boatyard next door.
Ascending the stairs into an open, light and airy sitting room with two comfy sofas with french doors leading to a balcony overlooking the river. It has an additional TV together with DVD and PS4 (some games provided). Off the sitting room is a shower room and a further double and twin room.
Outside the property
Wrest Cottage is a short walk from the main town of Rye, easily accessible from the Ypres Inn, or round Rock Channel to the bottom of Mermaid Street – perfect for a mooch amongst the many antique and independent shops. Access to the cottage is passed the boatyard – allowing you to drift asleep to the sound of the tinkering of boats (and a few gulls).
Due to the nature of its situation, the end of the garden is NOT SECURE, there is a bank with steps up to the edge of the river, it is not gated – therefore the property is not advisable for young children. Children must be supervised at all times. The jetty is not accessible to guests and owned by the boatyard. The deck, however, is the most idyllic and peaceful place to watch the tide go in and out, enjoying alfresco dining!
Parking is on the paved area between the garage and the house, there is space for two cars. Wrest is dog friendly allowing two medium sized dogs.
A new Hypervolt EV charger has been installed for guests use which we have to unlock for usage. There is a fee for use.

Lovely location. Very quiet & can park 2 cars at the house then walk to the close-by lovely town & its many cafes, restaurants & shops. Very clean & comfortable house with well equipped kitchen although could benefit from adding a microwave. A shower curtain round the additional shower/bath would also be good. Comfortable beds, sofas etc. The Nature Reserve is a must visit location - lovely views etc & a great walk also had along Camber Sands beach but go early as the tide comes in fast!

This is the third time we have stayed at Wrest Cottage. Fantastic location - quiet and restful, a short walking distance from the town, easy access to surrounding areas of outstanding beauty. A lovely, spacious, bright and clean cottage with ample facilities. Sitting in the garden watching the tide rise and fall, and listening to the curlews is such a joy. We will return again.
This is the third time we have stayed at Wrest Cottage. Fantastic location - quiet and restful, a short walking distance from the town, easy access to surrounding areas of outstanding beauty. A lovely, spacious, bright and clean cottage with ample facilities. Sitting in the garden watching the tide rise and fall, and listening to the curlews is such a joy. We will return again.
An excellent holiday property - fully equipped for a family or two with plenty of space. We did like the layout with the lounge upstairs overlooking the creek and the changing tides. We also appreciated the decorations - the paintings, photographs and the maps of old Rye - combined with the very practical details - the coat hangers on hooks, the rack over the bath, ideal for after the odd heavy shower to dry off wet weather gear, and the bedside shelves, lights and radios! The location was ideal for us with the five minute walk to the centre of Rye for an after dinner ice cream or coffee or a drink at the nearby Fish Bar. We made the most of your suggested outings too. Thank you!

This is my second visit to Wrest Cottage in Rye. It’s a truly wonderful house with lots of light and good-sized rooms. I love the quiet location by the water but it’s also a very short walk into the town centre. Everything you need is a short walk away. Good parking too. Highly recommend!

This is such a perfect cottage. Have been several times and looking forward to returning many more. It's comfortable, warm, quiet and welcoming. Everything you need for a short weekend or a longer stay (both of which we've done). The ideal location as a base for local walks around the great antique shops as well as easy access to longer strolls on the beach. A five star spot.

I stayed here for my husband's birthday, and it was perfect! The house is super comfortable and well-equipped in a really beautiful location. It was really well situated, and we walked into town and drove to the beach. I would love to stay again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rye!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We had some lovely evenings on the deck and loved the river view. It was an easy walk in to Rye, which is a lovely town with some great eating places. Would highly recommend.

- Located among the boatyards of Rye on the tidal river Rother, just a short walk to the historic citadel.
- Parking for to 2 cars.
- EV charger available on request (chargeable)

House Policies
- Dog fee £30 per dog per stay. Up to 2 dogs
- Due to the unsecured garden by the riverbank, the property is not recommended for young children. Children must be supervised at all times.
The jetty is not accessible to guests (owned by the boatyard).

A £500 refundable breakage deposit will be held against your card prior to your arrival.
